Nilsen har også gitt ut singlene «She’s So High» (2003) og «My Street» (2004). Disse ble kåret til henholdsvis årets låt under Spellemannprisen 2003 og årets hit under Spellemannprisen 2004. Han synger Ryans Adams «When The Stars Go Blue» som duett med Venke Knutson på hennes album Places I Have Been (2005), og har et låtbidrag på Gods Of Thunder – A Norwegian Tribute To Kiss (2005).
I 2006 har han turnert og opptrådt sammen med Espen Lind, Alejandro Fuentes og Askil Holm. Sammen har de laget samlealbumet Hallelujah – Live, som består av forskjellige coverlåter. Gutta blir populært kalt: «De nye gitarkameratene» i det norske nyhetsbildet. Sammen vant de klassen årets hit for Leonard Cohen-sangen «Hallelujah» under Spellemannprisen 2006. Det er tredje gang i løpet av fire år Kurt Nilsen vinner denne klassen. Kurt var også nominert for Årets hit med «Push Push» under Spellemannprisen 2007.
Albumet ”A Part of Me” fikk blandet mottagelse i pressen, risen var at produktet var av det ”hverdagslige” slaget. Kurt Nilsen hadde skrevet alle låtene selv og Jørn Dahl & Hans Olav Grøttheim (Lene Marlin) var produsenter. Blant gjestemusikerne var gitaristene Askil Holm og Lars Håvard Haugen (Hellbillies).
Kåringen ble direktesendt 1. januar 2004 til rekordtall for TV2. Sendingen ble sett av 1,4 millioner og 100 millioner på verdensbasis. Kurt Nilsen vant Verdens-Idol klart foran Kelly Clarkson og deltakere fra alle fem verdensdeler.
Albumet «I» kom i begynnelsen av september. Ole Evenrud produserte settet som mottok middelmådige kritikker, men la seg på toppen av hit-listen og solgte godt over platina-status (40.000).
I løpet av julemåneden ble Kurt nevnt som en av artistene som tjente mest på at PR-kampanjer på TV brukte grossist-salg framfor butikk-salg som salgsargument. Mange hevdet at det finnes tusenvis av usolgte Kurt-plater i norske platebutikker og kan dermed ikke regnes som popularitetsbevis i TV-reklame.
BMGs platedirektør og Idol-dommer Lena Midtveit ga ut singelen som gikk rett til førsteplass på VG Lista Topp 20 og holdt seg på toppen i 8 uker.
Manager og Idol-dommer Jan Fredrik Karlsen planla den omfattende Idol-turneen som slo alle rekorder. Avslutningskonserten i Tusenfryd ble sett av 11.000.
I februar 2002 skiftet Breed navn til Fenrik Lane og i april kom EPen ”Come Down Here”. I kjølvannet av Kurt Nilsens suksess på TV-skjermen et år senere debuterte EPen på VG-lista Topp 20. EPen klatret helt til andreplass, kun slått av Kurts egen singel ”She’s So High”.
Den jordnære bergensmannen med den utradisjonelle pop-imagen vant Idol-konkurransen med klar margin. Det ukentlige TV-programmet hadde stor nedslagskraft og ga Fenrik Lane uventet suksess.
